Salary: $48,447.00 - $56,926.00 Annually Location : Chesterfield, VA Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 24-01055 Department: Parks and Recreation Opening Date: 06/03/2024 Closing Date: 6/30/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, sports management, or a related field; one year of experience in recreation work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and management skills necessary to work within deadline constraints. Knowledge of objectives and principles of scheduling, program planning and implementation; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; strong computer skills; ability to interact with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds and varying ages; ability to supervise staff. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required. Duties The Recreation Specialist will operate under direct supervision of the Center Supervisor and performs work of moderate difficulty in developing and implementing recreation programs and activities within the Ettrick Recreation Center and other areas on an as needed basis. Promotes and publicizes programs and services offered at the center; prepares marketing materials including but not limited to flyers, schedules, and brochures; provides information and assistance related to facilities, activities, programs, facility procedures, forms, fees, or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, and requests. Maintains facility and program equipment, and materials and supplies at the center; Schedules facilities for rental use, programs, and events; Assists with set up and supervision of programs, activities, specials events, and rentals; Monitors and evaluates facility programming; Participates in the development and implementation of community outreach plans to target underserved populations and increase program participation; In absence of center supervisor may supervise, train, and evaluate the work of part time, seasonal, contract or volunteer staff. Perform other work as required. Shift Varies. Primarily Monday

  • Thursday, 8:30 a.m.
  • 6:00 p.m.; Friday 8:30 a.m.
