Schneider Downs Corporate Finance (SDCF), an affiliate of Schneider Downs & Co., which operates and manages a real estate investment platform that focuses on acquiring and developing multifamily and student housing properties throughout the United States. We partner with real estate developers and owners to connect them with our platform of private and institutional capital providers seeking direct real estate investment opportunities. Since 2014, we have invested over $200 million across 30 transactions in multifamily, student housing, and hospitality investment opportunities.

Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office.

What You’ll Do


  • Pre-screen real estate investment opportunities, including analysis of real estate companies, property characteristics, business plans, market fundamentals, deal structures, and financial metrics
  • Draft materials for and present to investment committee, which includes our CEO and SDCF’s leadership team, and other key internal constituents
  • Build real estate financial models from scratch, with a focus on multifamily properties, for various deal structures including different types of waterfalls (preferred hurdles, IRR hurdles, etc.) for joint-venture equity
  • Develop investor facing offering documents, investment return analyses, and other financial analyses and documents
  • Being the focal point of the due diligence process, including gathering and analyzing due diligence materials and coordinating reports from third parties
  • Represent SDCF through interactions with clients (real estate companies and investors) and third parties
  • Review and interpret joint venture agreements, loan documents, subscription agreements, and other legal documents customary to the real estate industry
  • Identify and explore new sources of capital to grow SDCF’s investor base
  • Monitor, analyze and report on the performance of existing investments


What You’ll Need

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Real Estate, or related field or sufficient demonstrated coursework to reflect training in fundamental concepts used in real estate capital markets
  • Minimum of three years of experience in real estate private equity/finance, with emphasis on structuring and execution of transactions
  • Demonstrated direct experience with a commercial real estate firm, real estate development firm, investment sales, mortgage banking firm, or other investment/financial institution; candidates with strong backgrounds in other areas may also be considered


Preferred:


  • Series 7 and 63 licenses preferred but not required


Other:


  • Proficiency with and understanding of:
    • Real estate development and acquisition transaction structures and metrics, including equity waterfalls and promotes
    • Customary legal documents in the real estate finance industry such as partnership agreements, loan documents, and development agreements
    • Private capital and joint venture equity legal structures and customary processes
    • Geographic market metrics for real estate, and the ability to convey analysis of a particular market’s current state and future outlook
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment, where taking ownership of their individual work product is key to the team’s growth and success
  • A team player who is hard working, dedicated, and independently takes initiative with limited supervision
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including fundamental understanding of financial accounting
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proficient with CRM systems
