The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Our product offering is extensive and covers application needs from Industrial to Commercial markets.

Position Summary

The Quality Technician is a firm advocate of product quality within their assigned production area. They use specific measurement tools, test equipment, company guidelines, written specifications, and visual characteristics to make sure material produced meets specifications and is ready for the customer.

Responsibilities

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Learn and apply basic test procedures in the assigned area.
  • Ensure that all testing procedures are followed without deviation.
  • Complete testing assignments accurately and completely in a timely manner.
  • Organize test results and summarize in table/graphical format indicating totals and other specified statistical data.
  • Generate certifications based on test data.
  • Work cross functionally with production, customers, sales & marketing and customer service when quality issues arise.
  • Follow all instructions for collecting samples, operating equipment and performing specific process operations for any plant trials.
  • Legibly record observations, gauge readings, measurement sand operator comments during plant trials.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to the lead operator and shift supervisor; takes action to prevent accidents and injuries; report malfunctions of equipment and deficiencies in processes to the shift supervisor and meet safety standards.
  • Cleans quality inspection area and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Promote safety and positive communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous quality experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance principles and industry standards

Knowledge And Skills

  • Proficient in basic math, reading and writing.
  • Basic computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • Must be able to read a rule / scale accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to analyze data and plan improvement activities.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Quality certification a plus.

Schedule Description

The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Overtime, weekend, and holiday work as needed.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to distinguish shades and colors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work primarily on the production floor, with short periods of time in a controlled office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor.
  • During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dust from machine processes is constantly present.
  • The employee constantly works near mechanical parts and lift trucks.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone spray.
  • Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.
