Clean hydrogen on-site. No new pipelines. No new storage. No delivery trucks. Near zero and negative CO2.

About us

Modern Hydrogen's distributed hydrogen production systems enable clean heat and fuel, today. No waiting on hydrogen pipelines, or delivery trucks. No large, high-pressure storage necessary. No more emissions. Electricity can be used in many simple heating and power applications, but many high-grade heating applications remain out of reach. Additionally, the total amount of energy required for peak heating in the U.S. is more than double the capacity of our national electrical grid. This means that most heating in the U.S. cannot be electrified today and will not be fully electrified and powered by a clean grid for decades to come. So, what can be done to solve the massive problem of today’s emissions? At Modern Hydrogen, we understand the importance of energy-dense fuels and the high value of effectively storing and transporting them. When we focused our expertise in high-temperature physics, thermomechanical design, and applied chemistry on the problem, Modern Hydrogen™ was the result. We operate at the leading edge of new technologies that effectively decarbonize natural gas at the point of use for commercial and industrial operations, fuel cells, and power generation. Modern Hydrogen™ technology showcases many of the newest innovations in the transportation and production of clean hydrogen and high value solid carbon. Contact us today to learn more.

Our team has been flying around the world to hydrogen and clean energy conferences. Here are the trends we've seen on the agendas 📃 ➡ This year, hydrogen and clean energy conferences are focusing on several key themes and topics that highlight the industry's trends and priorities: 💠 Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Advancements: The integration of carbon capture technologies with hydrogen production, advancements in solid carbon removal and CO2 compression technologies, and the use of CO2 for enhanced oil recovery are major discussion points. 💠 Green Hydrogen and Renewable Integration Questions: Green hydrogen production and its role as a critical energy vector for decarbonization are central themes. Strategies for accelerating the adoption of clean hydrogen through policy, market dynamics, and technological advancements are emphasized, while access to renewable electricity remains an immediate challenge. 💠Hydrogen Infrastructure and Storage: Advancements in hydrogen storage and transportation are significant topics, including low-carbon hydrogen production, storage systems, and infrastructure developments necessary for scaling hydrogen use long term. In the short term, solutions using existing infrastructure can deploy rapidly. 💠Regulatory and Policy Frameworks: The regulatory landscape and the integration of hydrogen into existing legal frameworks are crucial discussions at the international, national, and local levels. New regulations shaping the hydrogen market and facilitating its growth as a sustainable energy solution are being addressed, but the pace of discussions at the US National level is a concern. 💠Hydrogen in Mobility and Industry: The application of hydrogen in mobility (e.g., fuel cells for vehicles) and industrial processes is a recurrent topic. Hydrogen's potential to decarbonize hard-to-tackle sectors and its use in producing sustainable fuels like green methanol and ammonia for marine applications are also highlighted. 💠Innovation and Technological Developments: Innovation in hydrogen production technologies, such as pyrolysis units, electrolyzers, and fuel cell advancements, is a key focus. Technological solutions, from hydrogen from biomass to advanced materials and safety systems for hydrogen applications, often take center stage. 💠Global Collaboration and Trade: International trade of hydrogen and fostering global collaboration are often promoted. Strategies to encourage trade and create a sustainable hydrogen economy through global partnerships are workshoped and explored. These trends reflect the industry's commitment to advancing hydrogen technologies, overcoming regulatory and infrastructure challenges, and promoting global cooperation to achieve decarbonization goals. Any hydrogen topics missing from this list? What should clean energy and hydrogen conferences focus on for the second half of 2024? #Hydrogen #HydrogenEconomy #Decarbonization #Infrastructure #CCUS

Climate science is usually no laughing matter... ...but tomorrow, July 12, Modern Hydrogen takes the hot seat as the muse of a comedy improv sketch at Bloomberg Green Festival. Bloomberg Green says its team is "assembling Earth's foremost collaborators, activists, and innovators to lead the way towards a new climate era. Operating across sustainability, design, culture, food, tech, data, science, policy, and entertainment, attendees will participate in solutions-driven experiences alongside world-renowned experts to demonstrate meaningful climate action." In Seattle? Join Modern Hydrogen at the festival's Climate Creatives Stage Friday, July 12 at 11:45 AM for a unique session called Mad Science - featuring Bandit Theater Theater Improv and Modern's own W. H. Harrison Nealley. "Hear cutting-edge research and stories from the academic front line for Bandit’s team of improv comedians to warp, twist, and turn on its head. No laboratory could have synthesized an improv show like this." Featuring Mad Science Climate Scientists: 1. Nick Bond, PhD. Washington State Climatologist with an abiding interest (or obsession) with the weather and climate of the North Pacific and western North America. 2. Harrison Nealley, R&D Engineer at Modern Hydrogen, a Seattle-based clean energy startup with breakthrough technology on producing clean hydrogen while capturing solid carbon. 🎭 Need a ticket? How will climate change affect your roads? This edition of our newsletter, "Making Inroads," examines what happens to our roads when temperatures are hotter for more extended periods of time. Modern Asphalt expands temperature tolerance. As municipalities prepare for more extreme heat events, road materials capable of enduring higher temperatures will help maintain infrastructure. Modern Asphalt products withstand hotter temperatures without losing capabilities in cold temperatures, resulting in a wider overall temperature range.   Are you already feeling rutting, cracking, and more potholes on your drive?
