Job Scope

The Quality Director position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing quality management systems to comply with AS9100 Rev D and IATF standards, primarily for the aerospace and automotive industries. The role involves developing and maintaining rigorous quality assurance practices, conducting audits, managing certification processes, and leading a team to ensure all operations meet or exceed required standards. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering or quality management, with significant experience in aerospace or automotive quality systems, and strong leadership skills. The job requires strategic oversight and hands-on management to ensure continuous improvement and compliance across all aspects of production.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality management system compliant with AS9100 Rev D and IATF standards
  • Lead and mentor the quality assurance team to ensure that practices and processes consistently meet or exceed the regulatory requirements and customer expectations
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of the quality systems to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with international standards
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality management practices into all aspects of production operation
  • Manage and resolve issues related to non-conformance and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Oversee the certification processes and maintain all the necessary documentation and records
  • Engage with suppliers and customers to develop quality agreements and ensure that external quality standards are met
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations and adjust internal policies and procedures accordingly
  • Provide strategic direction and support in the development of new productions to ensure quality considerations are met from the design stage
  • Report regularly to the senior management ream on the status and profess of quality management objectives

Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or 3-5 years’ experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in quality management roles within aerospace of automotive industries
  • Extensive knowledge of and certification in AS9100 Rev D and IATF standards
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a quality assurance team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Climate controlled conditions (year-round)
  • Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration
  • Noise levels usually moderate
  • Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to see, talk, hear, touch, feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to frequently walk to stand for short periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
