ABOUT THE JOB


Are you a cookie lover? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join our bakery team in Ferndale, NY!


The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading product quality initiatives and developing, documenting, and maintaining quality systems within the bakery facility related to product performance and sanitation. Further, the Manager will review and document procedures and specifications for new and existing products and maintain the plant’s SQF, GMP, and sanitation programs. The Quality Assurance Manager will report to the Plant Manager and the Vice President of Quality and R&D.


ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Direct supervision of the plant QA Department and the Sanitation Team.
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to all plant employees on Quality and GMP issues.
  • Conduct GMP and sanitation audits.
  • Direct and support the plant sanitation program, order supplies, chemicals, and testing supplies.
  • Interact daily with all managers to accomplish key goals.
  • Lead and maintain the SQF program compliance within the facility.
  • Review quality trends, track root cause of quality failures, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Create Quality Systems and document Standard Operating Procedures and maintain compliance with quality assurance programs, policies, processes, and procedures relative to plant, customer and governmental and auditing agencies.
  • Maintain compliance with plant safety standards and policies regarding OSHA safety regulations.
  • Conduct food safety, human safety, SQF-required, and other necessary training annually and as needed.
  • Visible presence on the production floor to support key goals of the facility.
  • Compose and approve certificates of analysis for batch record reviews and release.
  • Approve raw material specification and out of specification lab results.
  • Review batch records for accuracy and investigate issues surrounding accuracy.
  • Create, maintain and/or review nutritional information for the facility and the company.
  • Maintain and improve upon the weight control program within the facility.
  • Develop focus teams to address quality and material concerns within the plant.
  • Working onsite during scheduled working hours.


ABOUT YOU


  • BA/BS in Science or Biological Science, Food Science or related field.
  • Al least 5 years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory/managerial experience in a food or bakery manufacturing environment.
  • Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification required and proven experience with SQF audits.
  • HACCP and PCQI certification required.
  • Previous compliance experience with outside regulatory agencies dealing with plant food, plant quality, and plant environmental systems, along with customer audits.
  • Possess strong written documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a plant team environment and with regulatory agencies and customers.
  • Understand issues related to and involving food manufacturing documents and records, both from a technical and legal perspective.
  • Experienced in supervising, guiding, and providing counsel to others.
  • Effectively organizes, coordinates and executes department/plant initiatives.
  • Emotionally intelligent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of food and environmental regulations and their impact on the organization and our customers.
  • Ability to assist in the development and execution of strategic plans to meet departmental and organizational goals while complying with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Strong communication (written/oral), arithmetic, technical reading, computer (Word, Excel, Creating Charts, PowerPoint), organization, relationship building, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work onsite during schedule working hours.
  • Bilingual - English / Spanish is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•        Ability to walk through the factory regularly, lift 50 pounds, reach, pull, bend, and unpack boxes.

•        Ability to stand for long periods of time on the production floor, if needed.

COMPENSATION


$70,000 to $90,000; depending on experience and skillsets.
