THE ROLE
Project Controller works with Project Manager to ensure a project stays within budget and gets delivered on time. Help identify areas of improvement for project operations by closely monitoring a project's progress. Project Controller oversees a project's revenues and expenses to ensure it stays within budget.
Key Accountabilities
Common job duties for a project controller may include:
Establish and maintain a Portfolio Master Schedule including monitoring, status reporting and revisions as required.
Reviewing a project's deadlines and budget with the project manager.
Coordinating payments to subcontractors and vendors.
Oversee, identify plan deviations, and recommend resolution for project manager.
Create project progress reports and make recommendations for ways to improve the project's progress.
Analysing performance data to establish performance metrics.
Develop risk mitigations.
Handle and manage the intake, verification, and storage of documents.
Working closely with technical experts, project leads and project managers in planning, creating, and managing project schedules.
Maintain current and forecasted Cash Flow data when compared to projected Cash Flow.
Offering coaching and guidance to junior team members.
Represent the team as a key contract, liaising with project managers and other stakeholders.
Comparing ongoing project activities with the project management plan and project performance baseline.
Anticipate potential problems and recommend resolution for project manager.
Manage project controls team.
Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, a concentration in Construction Management, Engineering, Science or Business Administrator.
More than five years in a similar role.
Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
Good analytical and planning skills.
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as MS project is a requirement.
Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality.
Some exposure to metallurgical processes desire.
Highly demonstrated ability in conceptual and practical planning skills
Strong working ability with MS Office (Excel, spreadsheets, project planners, charting etc.)
Experience in SAP preferred.
