Job Description Summary
Faculty are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. Faculty should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
The School of Education is seeking a remarkable quantitative researcher to serve as advisor to doctoral students. Are you an experienced professional who has the academic credentials to help doctoral students for the critical thinking needed to prepare and execute quantitative research? We are seeking a full-time, 12-month faculty who will work on the campus in Lynchburg, Virginia. Your primary role is to advise and counsel doctoral students to ensure that their research is in alignment with the University’s mission and vision for the student experience. There is also an opportunity to teach in your area of expertise. You will be responsible for creating an academic atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for individual dignity, while maintaining the integrity of course and instructional programs. Faculty members may be asked to aid in the development of curriculum in the residential and distance education environments.
Faculty attain the rank of Associate Professor based upon scholarly and professional achievements subsequent to attaining the rank of assistant professor. An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area relevant to the faculty member’s area of teaching is required.
The Associate/Full Professor is contracted for 12 months. Release from contracted teaching load is determined each semester by the Dean, per Liberty University Faculty Handbook.

- Advises students in matters related to quantitative and/or applied research.
- Works with doctoral chairs to maintain required dissertation and/or applied research standards.
- Trains faculty on quantitative research methods.
- Contributes to continuous program improvement for doctoral programs.
- Assists in curriculum review and development.
- Teaches doctoral research courses.
- Provides relevant services in line with the mission of the university
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean.
- Applicant must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education
- Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University.
- Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills required.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the Internet.
- Able to obtain and maintain licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
- Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the university level is essential.
- Experience in K-12 Education
- Publications and presentations in quantitative research.
