Your role within the team

Supporting our Infant & Adult Nutritional Care brands (Biostime & Swisse), the Product Development Manager role will be responsible for managing the product development lifecycle. You'll be responsible for tracking and expediting all related product materials and timelines required to deliver products on time and within budget.

We need a self-starter that is organized, passionate, and a natural-born leader. The role requires proven skills and experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create and manage the stage-gate project schedule for all Biostime & Swisse products. Account for time, cost, and quality at each step.
  • Assess and communicate impact and risks to project delivery to stakeholders; escalate as needed.
  • Work with the project team and contract manufacturers to define, assess, and limit risks that could significantly impact project cost, schedule, and investment.
  • Track detailed product costs, margin, and feature changes during each project phase - design through go-to-market.
  • Explore trending ingredients, packaging techniques to feed innovation based on local consumer needs.
  • Liaise with regulatory, quality, and operations teams to match or exceed federal and state requirements.
  • Act as the communication hub for all local team members, global team members, and external partners on all projects.
  • Database and organize projects and product documentation - from specs, formulas, and proofs to vendor invoices and clinical documents.
  • Report weekly on project progress, delays, and risks.
  • Participate in technical design reviews via project status documentation. Ensure products are designed to the intended specifications.
  • Review test results summaries and recommend action plans to improve product design or performance.
  • Review product test plans to ensure robust product safety and performance.
  • Translate complex technical concepts in simple, straightforward language appropriate to the audience/stakeholder.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of end-to-end product development experience in human supplements, food/beverage, and/or infant/baby consumables, required.
  • Scientific/technical background (ie, food science, food engineering, chemistry, or similar field), required.
  • Experience managing new product development for consumer goods through stage-gate, from concept to launch. Including: risk assessments, formulation development, specifications, CoAs, stability protocols and data, etc.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and commercialization of new products. This includes familiarity with manufacturing processes and SOPs required for CPG packaging and raw materials. On-site plant experience is a must.
  • Start-up experience, preferred.
  • Experience working with global teams and the ability to work across difference time zones.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines.
  • You view 'attention to detail' as a way of life. You find the issues others look past and develop processes to avoid them in the future.
  • You have an 'All-Ships-Rise' mentality and will work to ensure your team and teammates succeed together.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate highly technical concepts, challenges, and updates to multiple audiences.
  • Proactive mindset and the ability to strengthen processes and efficiencies.
