Processing Employee / General Labor

Seneca Foods is one of the most highly integrated fruit and vegetable processing companies in the US. We manage many—and in some cases all—aspects of production. At Seneca, we produce seeds, harvest crops, manufacture our own containers and provide a wide range of nutritious fruit and vegetable products. Position Summary

Remove covers, open bags, and remove empty bags from totes. Put bags in and syrup/brine totes, make sure the totes weigh out, repair totes as needed, etc. Keep the work area clean and be able to perform moderate to heavy labor. If any problems develop, notify foreman or supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Prepare totes for processing by removing covers and opening bags prior to loading tank
• Repair and or reject totes or other materials not meeting specifications
• Inspect, clean, and sanitize totes and materials for conformance to specifications
• Prepare totes for finished product by lining with bags
• Weigh tote containers to verify ingredient quantities
• Notify supervisor of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems
• Fill out necessary paperwork
• Plant clean-up
• Hand palletize (stack) finished goods onto pallet
• Operate sizer
• Sort and package product, poke stems, cut stems and other tasks on moving lines/belts.
• Other tasks as assigned
  
  

Qualifications & Certifications Required

• Internal GMP/HACCP/SQF Training
• Trained and knowledgeable in the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
• Must pass respiratory fitness test
• Must be able to read, write, and converse in English

• Frequent standing and walking
• Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, and twisting
• Occasional lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds
