Principal, Payroll Acquisitions
Overview
This role is responsible for developing and executing the company's payroll acquisition strategy. This includes understanding total market opportunity, identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets, developing investment themes, negotiating with prospects, and closing transactions. The role plays a critical role in the company achieving its strategic inorganic growth goals.
Responsibilities
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $275,000. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.

This includes understanding total market opportunity, identifying and evaluating potential acquisition targets, developing investment themes, negotiating with prospects, and closing transactions. Responsibilities
- Partner with Executive and Market Team leaders to identify and understand opportunities, strategic fit and state of the external market. Ability to create followership by socializing ideas and investment themes within the organization.
- Create an ecosystem of potential acquisition targets to ensure a consistent stream of actionable opportunities to enhance and expand our client base, with an emphasis on revenue and earnings potential.
- Cultivate relationships with potential targets and identify early stage opportunities. Ability to understand and model alternative deal structures.
- Continuously reevaluate the market to identify and assess potential acquisition targets. Evaluate these opportunities against established criteria and work with Market teams to assess their strategic fit.
- Negotiate and close M&A transactions. This includes leading negotiations with the target company and its advisors, and working with the company's legal team to draft and finalize transaction documents.
- Provide regular updates to the executive team on M&A progress, performance, and challenges.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or another relatable field - Required
- Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or another relatable field - Preferred
- 10+ years of experience in Mergers & Acquisition or relevant partnership leadership experience with a focus on identifying external targets that support the strategic objectives of the business.
- 10+ years of experience in Demonstrated track record of establishing partnerships, including relevant P&L responsibility for monetizing partnerships within the payroll/HCM market.
- 10+ years of experience in Financial planning & analysis or accounting experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Leading negotiations.
