Partner and Team Europe co-founder BJ Wright recently celebrated ten years at ghSMART. Read below why BJ is still “having fun” after a decade:   “Why have I stayed at ghSMART for a decade?! On reflection, I think I’ve stayed at ghSMART for the journey and the surprises along the way! I joined in Philadelphia on the promise of learning a new skill around leadership advisory and working with great clients/colleagues within a ‘freedom and flexibility’ model. I planned to stay there, but in 2016, I came to London with Alan Foster to launch our first international office. Since then, we’ve grown 20x in Europe (people, revenues, etc.) and the chance to be a mini entrepreneur was unexpected and challenging and fun!   “I learn a ton from working with my clients – many of whom I consider friends – and it is a constant privilege to partner with our incredible team members. We have also built a great life here – enjoying London (when the weather allows) and travelling. "I've always been interested in the 'why' and the 'what,' and now I’m curious to explore the 'who' at ghSMART. In 2021, I cold-emailed Geoff Smart, and to my surprise, he agreed to a coffee chat. Since then, we have kept in touch. What really struck me about Geoff was that, despite being the chairman and founder of a hugely successful global organization, he was approachable, happy to make himself available, and showed great kindness. Through various conversations over the years, I've found that everyone at ghSMART is genuinely excited about their work, viewing it as more than just a job." Losing a few years to the pandemic made my generation especially eager to start working, innovating, and thriving. This advice emphasizes the importance of reflecting and being in the moment, both in and outside of work. In today's fast-paced world, where there's pressure to move to the next step, it's crucial to ask, 'Is this a great place for me to grow?' It's essential to consider if I can commit, have an impact, and use the potential around me to maximize my influence." 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭? "I'm passionate about being the person I would have admired when I was younger. I started volunteering at my church until high school and now mentor underclassmen in college. It's fulfilling to develop through life and offer the same mentorship to others. It should be a mindset of 'let's grow together.' While external circumstances and market changes are unpredictable, adopting the attitude of 'I've been in your shoes and would love to navigate this together' is important. In fragmented times, it's crucial to move forward together in the right direction."
