Accounting and Payroll Coordinator

Nonprofit Organization

Temp to Hire; $24.00 per hour

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Westerville, Ohio (onsite)


The Accounting and Payroll Coordinator is responsible for assisting with all aspects of accounting duties, specifically accounts payable and payroll processes. They will also manage accounts payable transactions and accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices. Lastly, manage the payroll process using third party payroll software (Paycom).


What you’ll be doing:

  • Receives all check requests and accounts payable invoices for payment
  • Verifies all backup documentation is attached, and check request has proper approvals (per the approved Signature Authority Document)
  • On a weekly basis, enters all accounts payable invoices in Accounting Software for payment
  • Verifies all charges to accounts and grants are appropriate
  • Verifies vendor accountsby reconciling monthlystatements and related transactions
  • Maintains W-9’s for all vendors
  • Reconciles accounts payable subledger to the general ledger monthly
  • Prepares checks/EFT’s/Bank Drafts and corresponding A/P reports for approval and signature
  • Mails signed checks and submits approved EFT’s and Bank Drafts to appropriate manager for processing
  • Maintains an orderly accounting system including accounts payable files
  • Payroll; Ensures employee timecards and PTO requests are completed, approved, and ready for biweekly processing
  • Processes payroll transaction using third party payroll software (Paycom). Ensure totals agree to payroll control sheet
  • Sends payroll preview journal to Director of Accounting for approval
  • Submits payroll upon approval by Director of Accounting
  • Prepares and enters payroll journal entry into accounting software
  • Maintains all relevant payroll reports and documentation
  • Submits 401k data (contributions and loan information) to third party administrator
  • Maintains and updates accounting records and files
  • Assists in posting transactions to the general ledger
  • Assists in conducting month-end and year-end reconciliations and closures
  • Assists in assembling information for externalauditors for the annual audit
  • Assists Director of Accounting with various agency projects


Who we’re looking for:

  • Associate degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Two-three years’ relevant payroll/accounting/financial experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills in a network environment
  • Proficiency with Accounting and Payroll Software preferred
  • Planning, organizing, and time management skills
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals at all levels in an organization
  • Interpersonal skills including oral and written communications
  • Familiarity or direct experience managing multi-dimensional chart of accounts
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines despite interruptions and new challenges
  • Good work ethic; positive
  • Ability to work independently and make independent judgements
