Work Schedule: 18 hours per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays)
Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and inclusive educational community as a part-time Payroll Accounting Assistant. This non-unit position, without benefits, will play a crucial role in supporting the Payroll Department's daily operations. Key Responsibilities
Assist in reconciling bi-weekly payroll by cross-referencing entered amounts with control reports.
Conduct weekly predictive reports to preemptively identify and rectify discrepancies before payroll processing.
Review and process miscellaneous payment requests such as compensation forms, stipends, and expense reimbursements.
Monitor timesheet submissions, addressing any errors promptly.
Aid in employee setup within the HR/CMS State payroll system.
Collaborate with the Payroll Administrator to facilitate Contracted Adjunct Faculty payments.
Verify labor charges against departmental accounting strings, special project codes, and grant codes through predictive reporting.
Rectify accounting discrepancies utilizing the client State accounting system.
Provide assistance to employees regarding timesheets and Self-Service inquiries.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or higher, with a minimum of three years' experience in accounting/accounts payable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
Strong aptitude for utilizing computer applications to input accurate records, generate reports, and manipulate data for complex accounting tasks.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle confidential data, and maintain precision in numerical tasks.
Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
