About the position: As a Patient Services Coordinator at Madison Health, you will be responsible for ensuring that all clerical duties within the medical office are handled appropriately. Hours: Day Shift, Monday through Friday

Key Job Qualities/duties

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors either in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries. Treats patients and families with dignity and respect. Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
  • Answer phone calls using proper phone etiquette. Provide information on office services and policies. Listen to patient’s concerns and accurately document all related medical information before routing to the provider or medical assistant.
  • Schedules all patient appointments. Utilize the schedule template for each provider to appropriately schedule each patient for an appointment. Consult the provider or medical assistant with questions or to accommodate patient needs.
  • Gathers all paperwork coming into the office including forms, results, faxes, etc. and accurately distributes to the appropriate provider or medical assistant. Scans completed paperwork into the electronic medical record. Ensures confidentiality of patient records.
  • Monitors the referral work queue to ensure all patient referrals to specialists are managed appropriately. Schedules patient appointments for specialists and communicates information back to patient.
  • As appropriate, assist physician, nurse practitioner and other clinical staff in preparation of patients for screening or treatment, cleaning of exam rooms after use, assisting patients to exam rooms or treatments/diagnostic test areas.
  • Perform registration functions to check in patient for their scheduled appointment. Verify or enter demographic information into patient’s chart. Verify insurance information is accurate and update if appropriate. Collect patient co-pay.

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred or equivalent experience in a primary care setting.
