Are you highly organized with excellent interpersonal skills? Do you have a good knowledge of Google Docs and Sheets, and possess a professional demeanor? If so, we want you to join our dynamic team as an Assistant/Paralegal!
Bilingual/Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required.
Summary
In this role, you will work closely with a lead attorney, managing a variety of tasks to support legal proceedings and office operations. Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Document Preparation: Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda.
E-filing: E-file all court documents in state court.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with clients, courts, counsel, and others.
Research: Conduct legal research and factual investigation.
Discovery Management: Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses.
Drafting: Draft and serve summons, pleadings, and motions to file with the court.
Coordination: Coordinate depositions.
Organization: Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes; organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
Support: Aid attorneys with discovery requests and gather relevant information from various sources.
Settlement Assistance: Assist with case settlements.
Qualifications
Education: Associate's Degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience. Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred.
Experience
Required: At least 5 years of Florida Workers' Compensation experience as a litigation paralegal or in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting.
Required: Experience with using the DOAH Database to e-file pleadings.
Skills: Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
Licenses: Notary License is preferred.
