The data on H&S performance from our 2024 Global Health and Safety Survey participants present an ambiguous picture. The report presents findings from engagements with 256 health and safety Function Leaders, who, among other things, identified unique factors that have yielded performance improvements. The most mentioned factors were shifts in senior leadership engagement, improved access to and better quality H&S data, and enhanced H&S standards, management systems, programs, and tools. However, we also examined the 10 most frequently cited key factors the participants identified contributing to performance deterioration. Last week, Environment Analyst Global awarded ERM and EESI Remediation Limited UK the "Remediation Project of the Year" award at the 2024 Sustainability Delivery Awards. ERM and EESI teamed up to deliver a remediation project sustainably in a sensitive environment under close regulatory scrutiny. Our joint submission - Insights from the Sustainable Remediation of an Agrochemical Manufacturing Facility - showcased how sustainability was embedded into each stage of a complex UK remediation project. We are thrilled to share that after six years of development, offshore trials have launched to test key elements of our innovative Dolphyn Hydrogen process. They are being conducted in a floating marine environment in Pembroke Port, South Wales. They represent an important step forward in enabling the UK to produce low-carbon hydrogen safely, reliably, and at scale. Dolphyn Hydrogen brings together the expertise of local and international suppliers in the renewable and hydrogen production industries. ERM has mobilized a team that blends skills and expertise across engineering, health and safety services, permitting and consenting, and stakeholder engagement. Following on from PRIDE month, we are proud to share that we have obtained triple certification from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for our commitment to equality and adoption of vital policies for LGBTQ+ employees. In June, the HRC Equidade BR survey, carried out by the Human Rights Campaign, in partnership with the Mais Diversidade and the Fórum de Empresas e Direitos LGBTI+, awarded ERM Brazil the "Best Companies for LGBTQIA+ People to Work For" certification. Together with our teams in Argentina and Mexico, this achievement makes ERM LAC triply certified by the HRC. Our people are our greatest asset, and we know that we must work hard every day to continue to make ERM a place where everyone feels supported and free to be themselves. This London Climate Action Week, we are excited to announce the launch of a new guide designed to help companies and financial institutions invest in high-integrity Natural Climate Solutions (NCS). The ERM Sustainability Institute, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Natural Climate Solutions Alliance (NCSA), and Forest Investor Club (FIC) have developed this report to highlight the climate, financial, environmental, and social benefits of NCS projects and help encourage the flow of private capital into these solutions. The guide provides the most comprehensive guidance to date and outlines the key stages of the NCS investment process, including how to identify high-integrity NCS projects, conduct thorough due diligence, and implement effective investment strategies, all with the goal of de-mystifying and simplifying the NCS investment process. In addition to carbon, the guide explains the wider environmental, financial, social, and reputational benefits of NCS investments and how an NCS strategy can be aligned with the individual investor’s business case. Despite corporate sustainability commitments, a gap remains in aligning these with policy engagement. To bridge this gap, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development has announced the initiation of a new Positive Policy Engagement (PPE) workstream supported by an Advisory Board, which will be co-chaired by ERM Partner, Responsible Policy Engagement, Strategic Transformation Advisory, Jules Peck. This initiative will ensure that corporate advocacy positively impacts climate, nature, and equity goals. The Advisory Board will support the development of the strategy for the PPE workstream to provide companies with the tools, insights, and opportunities to align lobbying and advocacy efforts with corporate climate, nature, and equity goals. The focus areas of PPE will be: -Trade association engagement -Business case for positive policy engagement -Transparency and disclosure -Education and capacity-building. After some challenging weather conditions in the first weeks of their row and a power failure to some of the systems on board their boat that required getting external help while being docked at Bridport, the Sea Change Row team is on the move again. The crew, including our Technical Managing Consultant Jess Mc Iver, is currently approaching Land's End and has been rowing alongside dolphins!
