Who We Are
Activate Learning is a pioneering education group with a global reach, committed to transforming lives through our approach to learning.
We see our employees as individuals, empowering them to make the right choices for their ambitions and careers. We value our people as vital to our continued success and aspire to a diverse, open and inclusive environment that provides the motivation for everyone to pursue their career goals and flourish.
When you work for Activate Learning, you’re working for an organisation that provides you with the advantages of a large employer, a trusted partner in your career development, and a transformational way of working whilst also investing in building a community environment for everyone.
Together, we will bring out the best version of yourself.
About The Role
As a subject tutor, you will teach, support, guide, and assess group(s) of learners across our GCSE and/or Functional Skills online courses. You will play a crucial role in this award-winning delivery model, ensuring that learners have a positive and enriching experience throughout their entire learning journey. Between designated weekly teaching hours, prompt assessment and marking their work, and providing personalised 1-1 support where needed, you will ensure your learners have all the support they need to succeed in building a better career profile.
In addition to these responsibilities you will be liaising with other staff to contact students who are not engaging, monitor their progress, providing timely interventions, and assist them with UCAS/employment applications to support their next steps.
As a subject practitioner, we will help our learners in a holistic manner; i.e. not only academically but also in building confidence and motivation to improve their career profile and employability. Together, we will support their social mobility as their future aspirations often lie in areas such as nursing, midwifery, paramedics, teachers, etc, sectors lacking qualified candidates.
We are offering pre-application Q&A sessions to help inform you about the role. If you'd be interested in learning more you can book your place here: https://forms.office.com/e/X4kchsZb7P
This is a variable hours contract set to start in August 2024. Salary will be dependent on learner achievement.
What do you need to be successful as an Online Tutor at Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will need to to be qualified to Level 3 (A-Level) in English, have an understanding of how people learn and be able to show demonstrable experience of working independently. You should be able to build strong relationships quickly, even via remote meetings. It would be desirable to have experience teaching GCSEs or Functional Skills specifically, and to have experience working with online learners.
You do not need to be a qualified teacher; however, having emotional intelligence and the ability to support online learners and work collaboratively remotely are essential skills for this role. Full training will be provided on our award-winning online platform for the right candidate.
As this is a home based role with many of our students studying in the evening, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
