The Role

We are looking for part-time, passionate tutors who are dedicated to making education accessible. Come join our thriving tutoring community! Make a difference in students' lives nationwide by providing them the attention they need to succeed in their coursework. This is a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new tutoring quality initiative aimed at defining how to be the best online tutor.

Expect to work 20 hours a week and earn $18/hour, all from the comfort of your own home! (Please note that for this role, you must work exclusively from the US.)Tutors are needed Monday through Friday, with specific schedule details listed below!

Scheduling

  • All tutors will tutor five, 4-hour shifts per week (20 hours total). All shifts below are repeated daily, Monday-Friday. There are no weekend shifts required for this role.
    • 7am-11am PST
    • 11am-3pm PST
    • 3pm-7pm PST
  • Schedules may be adjusted during summer months, as demand varies throughout the year and follows a typical US school year schedule

What You’ll Do

  • Provide students with 1:1 live tutoring sessions through video, audio, and chat
  • Tutor students in at least one of the following categories of math courses:
    • Early Math topics, which we define as standards typically found in the Common Core Math standards for grades K-8. These typically include:
      • Basic Math
      • Algebra I
      • Geometry
      • Pre-Algebra
    • Higher Math, which is typically defined as high school and college level courses such as:
      • Algebra II
      • Calculus
      • Trigonometry
      • ACT / SAT Math
      • Statistics
  • Encourage and guide students to successfully solve problems
  • Use a diverse range of virtual tools within the tutoring environment to assist students in engaging, exciting, and fun ways
  • Document best tutoring practices to help enhance positive student outcomes and be a part of a continuous feedback loop where your input will be valued
  • Attend knowledge-sharing sessions with product, engineering, operations, and our tutor team to help continuously improve the tutor and student experience
  • Work on a fixed tutoring schedule that works best for you

Qualifications

  • BA preferred or pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, either Math or Education
  • Strong command of the English language
  • At least one year of working closely with students in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in your chosen subject(s)


Bilingual candidates are highly preferred!

  • Passion for helping students learn and leverage technology
  • Ability to assist students through multiple communication channels
  • Ability to work from home with minimum disruptions
  • Comfortable using your own computer equipment and high-speed internet access
  • Coachable and open to GoGuardian's approach to providing a “student first” experience on the TutorMe platform
  • Ability and willingness to get fingerprinted prior to tutoring (TutorMe will pay for all fingerprinting fees)
  • You must be at least 18 years old to tutor with us
  • You must be a US resident and authorized to work in the US.
  • You must be able to work all of your shifts from a location within the United States.
  • We are currently not accepting applications from California residents
