The HistoryMakers, a national (501)(c)(3) nonprofit video oral history archive headquartered in Chicago, Illinois (http://www.thehistorymakers.org) seeks to hire an Education Coordinator to work out of its offices in Chicago. This is not a remote and/or hybrid position. This position includes serving as a project manager, maintaining the database of contacts, coordinating conferences(travel, lodging, AV presentations) as well as conducting online training of The HistoryMakers Digital Archive and helping to support The HistoryMakers faculty fellows, student ambassador and K-12 initiatives.


This position will also include:

Creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of educational contacts in Higher Education K-12, public libraries and museums;

Organizing in person conferences including all travel arrangements, lodging, event coordination,database management, A/V coordination, and all necessary follow up;

Supporting faculty and student research and teaching of The HistoryMakers Digital Archive through consultation, training, workshops, etc.;

Drawing connections between The HistoryMakers content and other primary source collections and materials, in order to demonstrate its contextual value;


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelors degree in Education, History, English, American Studies or another relevant field.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Technical Knowledge: Strong project management skills. Expert knowledge of Excel(pivot tables, VLookup), FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop


THE HISTORYMAKERS

The HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American video oral history archive(www.thehistorymakers.org), is a one-of-a-kind collection, housed permanently at the Library of Congress. Its website (www.thehistorymakers.org), accessed by millions worldwide, is sited in Wikipedia and used as a “go to” reference tool. Its digital archive has been licensed by colleges, universities, K-12 schools and public libraries for use by faculty, students and patrons. The HistoryMakers will become the digital repository for the Black experience: providing much needed content, role models, success pathways and frameworks for a 21st century citizenry that has become increasingly less tolerant, divisive and economically and educationally disparate.
