News Reporter Charlotte County

Job Description:

WINK-TV-Southwest Florida’s News Leader is seeking a talented and driven news reporter to report in Charlotte County, Florida. The ideal candidate will be passionate about journalism, able to work with a photographer independently and have a strong desire to produce high-quality, accurate, and engaging news content.

Responsibilities:

• Research and report on news stories in Charlotte County, Florida
• Conduct interviews with community leaders, government officials, and local residents
• Write and edit news articles for print and online publications
• Develop sources and maintain relationships with contacts in the community
• Attend events and press conferences to gather information and report on news stories
• Stay up-to-date on local and national news and trends
• Collaborate with colleagues and editors to develop story ideas and angles
• Use social media and other digital platforms to engage with audiences and promote content
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience as a news reporter, preferably covering local news
• Strong shooting, writing, editing and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of AP style and journalistic ethics
• Comfortable using digital tools and platforms, including social media and content management systems
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
