Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DNS Administrator with overall 10+ years and 7 years of hands-on experience in managing DNS on both Windows and Linux servers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DNS protocols, server configurations, and network management. They will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our DNS infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot DNS servers on Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Manage Windows and Linux servers, ensuring they are secure, up-to-date, and running optimally.
  • Implement and manage DNS zones, records, and related network configurations.
  • Monitor and implement DNS security measures to protect against DNS attacks and vulnerabilities.
  • Regularly analyze DNS performance and implement improvements for enhanced efficiency and speed.
  • Identify and resolve DNS-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of DNS configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT staff to ensure seamless integration and operation of DNS within the broader network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to resolve DNS-related queries and issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in DNS administration on both Windows and Linux servers.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing DNS on Windows Server (all recent versions) and extensive experience with DNS on Linux (e.g., BIND, DNSMasq, Unbound).
  • Strong understanding of DNS protocols (DNS, DNSSEC, etc.), DHCP and its integration with DNS.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, subnets, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with DNS security practices and tools to mitigate DNS threats.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with other IT professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or similar.
  • Familiarity with DNS management in cloud environments (e.g., AWS Route 53, Azure DNS).
  • Experience with advanced networking tools and technologies (e.g., load balancers, proxies, etc.).
  • Experience with project management and the ability to lead DNS-related projects from start to finish.
