As a Metallurist, you are responsible for ensuring the overall quality of materials sold and processes by Central Steel meet all customer specifications. Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance to customers by telephone, email, and on-site visits. This would include verbal presentations and interactions with customer’s engineering and plant personnel.
Assist purchasing with drafting material specifications
Provide technical support to Inside and Outside Sales groups as well as product knowledge training in small group meetings and one-on-one sessions
Create all technical material requirements for the electronic grade control system at our Central Coil Processing facility.
Perform in-house testing and coordinate all Independent Lab testing of samples submitted by customers when material complaints or requests for assistance arise
Supervise and coordinate all clerical efforts with our electronic systems regarding the generation of Customer Test Reports. This would also include the electronic filing of and maintaining all producing mill test reports
Supervise the coordination of responses to customer requests for compliance with several government and environmental regulations such as Nafta, DFARS, Ro-HS, REACH, LEED, etc.
Assist and guide the plant warehouse supervision and Quality Assurance Department in the development and support of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in metallurgical engineering, material science or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience (preferred metal industries)
Experience with interpretations of metal materials specifications (ASTM, SAE, AMS, ASME)
Able to work as a member of a cohesive team
Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Working knowledge of SAP
