JOB TITLE: Medical Records

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF NURSING

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the professional nurse, performs a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care unit operations.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED Ability to type; computer knowledge, preferably AHT software; prior knowledge of entering orders into computer preferred Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Good written and verbal communication skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Written and verbal communication with members of the health care team, patients, and visitors utilizing equipment such as the telephone and intercom

Maintains confidentiality of patient information

Assembles, completes and processes patients' charts as indicated

Keeps patient records accurately identified; maintains an accurate clinical record, recording information per facility policy

Transcribes doctors' orders per facility policy Daily review of charts for incomplete histories and operative summaries; any compliance issues brought to the attention of the appropriate member of the health care team for correction

Obtains closed records from Medical Records as needed

Initiates required nursing forms for new admissions and at month end

Orders unit supplies to maintain inventory stock and supplies; assists with receiving, distributing and sorting supplies brought to the unit

Maintains an orderly and businesslike environment at the nursing station in order to assist members of the health care team in the performance of their jobs despite high-stress factors

Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests

Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations

Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times

Other duties as assigned

Utilize electronic medical record charting; point click care.

Physical Requirements

Have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations

Work Schedule

As assigned, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays; non-exempt position
