Facility Profile TGH is the area's only level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adult & pediatric burn centers in Florida. Job Summary Under general supervision of the department manager and Office Supervisor, the Medical Assistant Technician (MAT) 3 follows established policies, procedures and professional guidelines. Gathers and records all necessary information in the process of generating a hospital account. Responsible for interviewing patients to confirm or obtain demographic and confidential clinical and financial information, necessary to accurately and efficiently register, verify insurance eligibility, collect patient copayments and identify those services that require an insurance authorization. Able to identify and explain forms that require the patient's signature. Provides clinical support such as assistance with medical procedures, cleaning of equipment, filing of records, retrieval of information, and performance of screening examinations. Job duties are in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Required Skills High School diploma or GED. Graduate of Medical Assistant program or three years of experience required. Medical Assistant Technician Certification Required. Completion of Patient Access Specialist 1 Competency-Based Orientation. BLS certification required upon hire or completion through internal training prior to release for clinical duties.
