Master Scheduler

Job Description

This role entails maintaining consistent communication with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers to track order progress, delivery dates, procurement of components through MRP, and addressing any inquiries or issues. The primary objective is to develop schedules and acquire materials to ensure 100% on-time deliveries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to prioritize meeting customer delivery schedules, ensuring clarity and accuracy of customer requirement dates in schedules.
  • Evaluate order requests considering material availability, routing specifications, alternative routings, and capacity. Lead daily production meetings, prioritizing tasks like setups, tool repairs, changeovers, and operator needs.
  • Generate work orders via MRP based on forecasts and sales orders, sequencing them considering tooling setups, changeovers, material availability, secondary equipment, and alternative work centers.
  • Resolve issues with the quality department and project engineers to prevent parts from being put on hold or needing corrective actions.
  • Schedule samplings promptly as requested by project engineers, sales representatives, and rapid solutions.
  • Attend supplier meetings concerning product scheduling and delivery performance. Establish appropriate planning parameters such as lot sizes, minimum order quantities, lead times, re-order points, and purchasing/vendor notes.
  • Coordinate with the Toolroom for timely processing of tooling repairs and changeovers. Serve as a backup to other Planner/Schedulers and Buyers.
  • Participate in physical inventory activities.
  • Support Buyer functions by preparing, reviewing, and issuing purchase orders, and adjusting existing orders as needed. Implement and monitor cost-saving programs continuously.
  • Ensure timely delivery by following up and expediting vendor deliveries when necessary.
  • Maintain and update all supplier portals and handle customer EDI and manual Order Entry.
  • Collaborate with planners, customers, and operations to forecast production needs.
  • Determine priorities among customers when labor or raw materials have competing deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school or technical school graduate with at least 5 years of administrative experience, preferably in a materials-related role.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable with an excellent attendance record.
  • Experience in data entry; ERP experience preferred.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with purchased materials, purchasing department programs, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills across all management levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complete other assigned duties/tasks as necessary. Possibly oversee and monitor contracted outside services to meet facility needs.
