Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Located in Detroit, MI.

The Position will be Responsible for the timely and accurate Inspection, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Repair of Equipment, Instrumentation, and Controls.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Industrial Production Maintenance Environment is REQUIRED.

Daily completion of Preventative Maintenance work orders, Reactive Maintenance Breakdown work orders.

Daily monitoring of plant equipment for proper operation

Using an equipment manual, determine repair parts needed.

Monitor inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies and report when getting low.

Become proficient at Troubleshooting of plant equipment such as Hot Oil System, Packaging Equipment, Reactors, Pelletizers, Air Compressors, Chillers, Fork Trucks, Pumps, Cutting equipment, etc.

Perform additional routine duties such as moving inventory, shoveling and plowing snow, or driving to local vendor to drop off or pick up supplies.

Participate in "on-call" rotations during evening or weekend hours to come in to work to repair equipment that is broken down and can not wait until normal work hours for repair.

Always work in a safe manner and follow plant safety rules and procedures such as equipment guarding, lock-out tag-out, confined space, electrical safety, and line breaking.

Follow 5S, and always maintain a clean and organized work area, including the shop and storage areas.

Time, accurate, and legible completion of all appropriate paperwork and records.

Demonstrate proficiency in ALL of the following:

  • Welding flat plate and CS pipe
  • Threading and pipe fitting up to 2-inch diameter
  • Troubleshooting 120-volt electrical circuits
  • Working knowledge of single loop controllers to do basic programming and troubleshooting
  • Mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, agitators, conveyors, etc) disassembly, repair, reassembly, and alignment
  • Working knowledge of PLCs for purpose of troubleshooting
  • 480-volt motors, VFDs, troubleshooting and replacement
  • Working knowledge of flow, pressure, and termperature transmitters for troubleshooting purposes.

Time spent on the job will be 90% in the production facilities, grounds and shop and 10% in the office.

Able to work OVERTIME as needed.
