Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) welcomes applications from skilled professionals who are excited to play a key role in the continuing growth and evolution of a thriving theatre producing organization and helping to shape the cultural life of Cincinnati, OH. Reporting directly to CSC’s Producing Artistic Director, the Managing Director will form a strong working relationship with the CSC’s Board of Directors, inspire staff towards constant improvement and innovation, and establish the company’s place in the local, regional, and national theatre community as an organization producing both the classical canon and creating new classics. Equally adept at addressing opportunities and challenges, the Managing Director will identify and secure resources through well-developed fundraising strategies, innovate business practices, strengthen operations, and maximize potential for earned income. The Managing Director will ground their decision-making skills in a consensus-building approach with management, and value collaboration in all practices through a welcoming spirit and clear communication style. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is a resident ensemble theatre company bringing Shakespeare and the classics to life for all. Founded in 1993 under the name Fahrenheit Theatre Company by a group of passionate and visionary young artists, CSC has evolved over the past 29 years into a permanent fixture in Cincinnati's arts community. Since that time, the Company has enjoyed rapid artistic growth, a loyal audience base, and critical acclaim. CSC presents more than 250 performances of 13 productions annually in its downtown theater and through touring productions across the region. CSC produces 7-8 fully staged productions annually that include works by William Shakespeare, adapted literary classics, contemporary classics, and new works that seek to define the idea of “modern classics.” In 2014, with its production of The Two Noble Kinsmen, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company became one of the first 5 theaters in the United States to complete the canon, professionally producing all 38 of Shakespeare’s plays. In 2017, CSC opened the brand new $17.5MM Otto M. Budig Theater–an impressive performance facility boasting a state of the art flexible theater seating up to 297, scenic and costume shops, rehearsal space, and administrative offices–anchoring the “Classical Arts Corridor” in Cincinnati’s historic Over-The-Rhine.
