The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Manager, Project Management to support our Biopharma Production division, specifically concentrated support for Single Use products.

This role will be a full-time position that can be based from: North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Travel will be required based on need of the project.

The team

Avantor’s Product Management team is part of our BioPharma Integrations group. This team manages Enterprise-wide projects for the Avantor Fluid Handling (AFH) Global Business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: 4-year College/University degree is required
  • Experience: 1-3 years experience is required
    • Project management skills including problem solving, resource management, project management methodologies (i.e. Agile, Waterfall)
    • Experience in support of initiatives involving organizational change, process restructuring or system implementation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and concisely to team members, leadership, vendors, contractors, suppliers and/or customers
    • Project management tools (i.e. Asana, Monday, JIRA, etc.)
  • Certification(s): Project Management certification is required (e.g. Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, PMI)
  • Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office Suite experience required
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 4+ years of experience
    • Lean, Six Sigma, Agile Change Management certifications/accreditations
    • Experience in Product Management
    • Microsoft Project experience

The Manager will be responsible for leading project and improvement initiatives across our Single Use business and support new product development initiatives. The Manager will coordinate activities between all stakeholders, which can include: team members, leadership, customers, production & operations, sourcing, sales, contractors and others, to deliver results within a specified timeframe.

  • Adhere to standard Project Management methodologies within the project life cycle
  • Support new product development initiatives
  • Develop Project artifacts / action plans with project stakeholders
  • Meets project objectives and timelines, along with budget requirements
  • Utilizes best practices to meet committed dates
  • Manages resources, external and internal stakeholders and business partners
  • Identifies and resolves conflicts proactively and escalates to management appropriately
  • Tracks and resolves open issues
  • Provides regular and proactive communication to stakeholders, team members and management
  • Manages scope aggressively and change controls
  • Reviews and updates risk, quality, and communication plans
  • Conducts regular project team and stakeholder meetings
  • Track progress of project execution and escalate process bottlenecks, anticipated delays, and other project completion risks
  • Prepare and coordinate communications and report outs for key internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers as appropriate
  • Prepare and distribute minutes of these meetings including action items and follow ups
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and cooperate successfully with staff from different countries and thus from different cultures
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • General business acumen to be able to effectively manage business relationships and work

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$99,000.00 - $164,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
