Associate Director, Scientific & Professional Education Programs at Lymphoma Research Foundation

The Manager of Scientific Programs and Initiatives assists with the Foundation’s scientific programs and professional programs. This entails managing administratively the organization’s lymphoma consortia, initiatives, scientific workshops and programs. This includes but is not limited to on-site support of education programs and scientific workshops. Each year, the Foundation hosts a number of in-person and virtual scientific initiatives to facilitate collaboration and partnerships among academic scientists, clinicians, government agencies, and regulatory bodies. This person will serve as a primary relationship manager for workshop attendees and vendors (including venues).

Located in New York City, the Lymphoma Research Foundation is the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives, and patient services. The Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. With the guidance of a prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which is comprised of 45 of the world’s leading lymphoma experts, the Foundation invests in the research and scientists which have the greatest potential to improve our understanding of lymphomas and lead to improved treatment options for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded more than $80 million in research focused on the origins and treatment of lymphoma.

A robust suite of patient services provides direct support to people who have received a lymphoma diagnosis. These services include the national Lymphoma Helpline, a Clinical Trials Information Service, Lymphoma Support Network, and patient aid grant program. An industry leader in digital communications, the Foundation maintains a strong presence on multiple social media platforms and has won national awards for its innovative use of social media to educate cancer patients. The Foundation developed a first of its kind mobile app for people with lymphoma which was recognized by Apple as one of the best medical apps in the country. The Foundation also provides continuing medical education programs designed to increase the knowledge, skills and performance of healthcare professionals who treat and care for people with lymphoma.

About the Opportunity


The position is based at the Foundation’s New York City office and reports to the Associate Director of Scientific and Professional Education Programs. Please note that is mandatory for Foundation staff, including this position, to work in the Foundation’s New York City office Tuesday-Thursday; staff may work remotely Mondays and Fridays. The salary range for this role is $60,000 – 80,000 annually.


Responsibilities:


Research Programs and Meetings


Assist with all aspects of management of scientific meeting development. This includes but is not limited to logistic support of Steering Committee meetings, scientific meeting logistics, venue contacting, onsite support and related meetings with staff, vendors, and volunteers.

Manage membership and engagement of the Foundation’s consortia in conjunction with consortia leadership, including faculty members and program leaders.

Coordinate all speaker and scientific program attendee-related logistics for scientific programs and initiatives, including serving as the primary point of contact and addressing inquiries before, during and after each event.

Share responsibility of oversight of day-of-event operation and logistics, including onsite registration, liaising with program participants, and assuring proper benefits of sponsoring donors on site for the Foundation’s Scientific Programs.

Provide project management and travel support to the Foundation’s CME program, Lymphoma Rounds.

Represent the Foundation at local and national hematology/oncology meetings as needed.

Assist Chief Program Officer and the Associate Director of Scientific and Professional Education Programs on ad hoc scientific projects.

Assist with administrative tasks as needed.


Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel to Foundation programs as needed; some events may cover evening and weekend hours.

All travel is domestic.

Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Total travel estimated at 20%.


Professional Experience:

Bachelor’s degree

At least 3 years of professional work experience required

Direct experience managing program logistics required, including vendor/ site selection, contract negotiation, menu planning, registration desk coordination, and onsite logistics

Highly skilled with Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn new software programs

Ability to travel to various locations across the United States to assist with programming on site; Some events may cover evening and weekend hours

Prior program or event planning experience preferred but not required

Travel to other Foundation events and Foundation-related meetings as needed
