Job Title: Manager of Clinical Analytics

Location: 100% Remote (PST Hours)



Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of Clinical Analytics to lead our team of data engineers specializing in clinical Electronic Medical Records (EMR) data for clinical research usage. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering or data analytics, knowledge in Azure cloud products, and experience in managing teams. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient and secure handling, processing, and integration of clinical data to support hospital operations, research, and decision-making processes.


Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee daily operations of the data engineering team, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data solutions.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.


Data Engineering and Architecture:

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines to process and integrate clinical EMR data.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data engineering projects.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, data governance, and documentation.


Azure Cloud Expertise:

  • Utilize Azure cloud products (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database) to build scalable and efficient data solutions.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure cloud technologies and integrate them into the hospital’s data engineering practices where appropriate.


Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with clinical, IT, and analytics teams to understand data needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data engineering projects and priorities.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.


Project Management:

  • Manage multiple data engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with data engineering projects.


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all data engineering practices comply with healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA.
  • Implement data security measures to protect sensitive clinical data.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering, with a focus on EMR data.
  • Strong proficiency in Azure cloud products and services for data engineering.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role within a data engineering team.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA) is highly desirable.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with clinical informatics or EHR data extraction, especially Epic.
