Role Overview
The Major Gifts Director, reporting to the Chief Development Officer, plays a pivotal role in advancing mission by cultivating and securing major donations from high-level individual donors. This position is critical to our efforts in enhancing educational leadership across Texas.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic Major Gifts Program targeting donors contributing $25,000 or more annually, with a goal of raising $500,000 in the first year and $1,500,000 by the third year.
Collaborate with the Director of Development and Board of Directors to identify and engage a team of leaders in support of major gift solicitations.
Personally solicit major gifts with support from board members and volunteers, ensuring effective cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of donors.
Utilize prospect research tools to identify and prioritize potential major donors.
Manage a portfolio of major donors, focusing on qualification, strategy development, relationship building, and solicitation.
Organize exclusive events and personalized engagement opportunities for major donors, ensuring meaningful interactions leadership.
Work closely with the Communications Team to develop targeted strategies and materials that effectively communicate the impact of major gifts.
Create personalized communication plans, including tailored proposals and impact reports, to steward and cultivate major donors effectively.
Focus on storytelling to showcase the transformative impact of major gifts on mission and programs.
Support stewardship efforts to retain and increase giving from current major donors, aiming for a 50% donor retention rate.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required.
5+ years of relevant fundraising experience.
Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (experience with Salesforce is a plus).
Detail-oriented with strong project management skills, ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Strategic thinker with creativity, initiative, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Experience In Nonprofit Organizations Preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $115,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, four weeks of paid time off annually, employee assistance program, and participation in a 401k program with company match.
Location
Houston or surrounding areas with occasional travel required (up to 20%) for events. Monthly travel to the Campus on Lake Austin for staff development and collaboration opportunities.
