Lower Elementary Literacy Coach ($50K plus depending on Coaching experience and higher level Reading degrees)
Job Overview
The Elementary Literacy Coach is responsible for supporting and enhancing the literacy instruction of elementary school teachers. This role involves collaborating with educators to develop and implement effective literacy strategies, conducting professional development sessions, and providing direct support to improve student reading and writing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support:
Collaborate with teachers to plan, model, and co-teach literacy lessons.
Provide individualized coaching to teachers to enhance their instructional practices.
Assist in the development and implementation of differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
Professional Development
Design and conduct professional development workshops and training sessions focused on literacy instruction.
Stay current with best practices in literacy education and share relevant research and resources with staff.
Mentor and support new teachers in literacy instruction.
Assessment And Data Analysis
Assist teachers in the administration and interpretation of literacy assessments.
Analyze student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Use data to inform instructional decisions and tailor support to meet student needs.
Curriculum Development
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and refine the literacy curriculum.
Ensure alignment with state standards and district goals.
Provide resources and materials to support the implementation of the literacy curriculum.
Student Support
Work with teachers to identify students needing additional support in literacy.
Develop and implement targeted interventions for struggling readers and writers.
Monitor the progress of students receiving literacy interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
Communication And Collaboration
Foster a collaborative and supportive school culture focused on literacy improvement.
Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and parents about literacy initiatives and student progress.
Participate in school-wide planning and decision-making processes related to literacy instruction.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification with a focus on literacy or reading specialist endorsement.
Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in elementary education.
Proven expertise in literacy instruction and knowledge of current best practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and providing professional development to teachers.
Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instruction.
