Legal Division

Legal plays an essential role in the formulation and implementation of the strategy of the firm. The advice and counsel we provide to all areas of the firm is critical to maintaining our commitments to our clients, regulators, and shareholders and to promoting our culture of excellence and integrity. Our goal is to provide legal advice that protects the firm’s financial well-being and reputation and assists our various businesses in evaluating the risks associated with completing transactions and other activities.

Litigations Team

We work at the intersection of finance and law, providing counsel and advice that support activities across the firm. We handle litigation and arbitration, perform research and due diligence, aid in financing and legal filings, and deal with contracts and intellectual property rights that show our commitment to clients, shareholders, and regulators. Whether you’re an experienced attorney or a quick learner with a strong interest in financial law coupled with critical thinking skills, our dynamic group might be right for you.

Responsibilities And Qualifications

  • Triage incoming legal documents and correspondence relating to litigation, regulatory inquiries, and investigations, and consumer inquiries, with a focus on retail and consumer financial matters.
  • Input matters into matter management system including subpoenas, litigations, inquiries, tax levies, class actions, bankruptcies and other incoming matters.
  • Assist and coordinate in preparing responses and document productions in connection with legal requests including subpoenas, regulatory inquiries and litigations.
  • Post group attorneys, various compliance groups and AML on relevant new incoming matters.
  • Assist in the preparation and production of periodic and ad hoc reports involving Litigation/Regulatory matters to various constituencies.
  • Triage and coordinate with class action/proxy department on class action settlement and bankruptcy matters.
  • Assist with strategic and legal tech initiatives and with special departmental projects as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-3 years of prior work experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficient to advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Team player with positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a variety of industries and businesses
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments
  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with senior management and global stakeholders
  • Commercially savvy with ability to exercise discretion with respect to highly confidential/sensitive information
  • Integrity, ethical standards and sound judgment
