About the Job

The Legal Counsel – Intellectual Property will support business partners and external vendors to navigate the complex structures put in place to help companies protect and preserve their intellectual property portfolios. The ideal candidate will have an established understanding and firm grasp on the procedures utilized in litigating IP enforcement and defense at the state, federal and regulatory body level. This candidate will work as part of a comprehensive team structure of our global operations while working autonomously to achieve their part of the teamwork with an eye on continued expansion and defense of our IP footprint in renewable energy technology and will work closely with our global IP team. The successful candidate will need to understand the procedures necessary for litigating and defending intellectual property disputes in court etc.


What you’ll be doing

  • Interface with business operations and external legal counsel to advance and defend Intellectual Property litigation.
  • Provide legal advisory on IP operation regard to patent, trademark, copyright, and other IP issues.
  • Act as a lead in discovery and reviewing internal documents, preparing and reviewing discovery responses, reviewing pleadings preparing witness statements and working with vendors needed to gather and present materials in the context of litigation position.
  • Perform risk assessments of proposed activities and develop recommendations to minimize their potential risk to the business.
  • Refine and further develop skills for your area of responsibility to include different geographic areas and different policy developments and applications in courts and regulatory proceedings.
  • Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the company.


Your Qualifications

  • Experience 5 - 9 years as a licensed attorney working in Intellectual Property litigation disputes
  • Experience in solar or semi-conductor technologies strongly preferred
  • Admitted to a State Bar
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and desire to make legal processes and cost management of external vendors more efficient
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Foreign language skills (written and verbal) are not required but will be considered positively
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to discuss complex issues in a clear and simple manner both in writing and verbally
  • Accurate and precise attention to details
  • Business-centric approach, demonstrating a positive attitude and ability to be creative and propose alternatives under all circumstances
  • Ability to follow team corporate and department processes and reporting requests
  • Desire to be a part of the Renewable Energy industry

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience. Additional discretionary incentive may be available. Full-time employees are eligible for PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms.
