Under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the Lead Officer is responsible for shift operations and maintains direct responsibility for overseeing the daily inspection of security cameras, alarms, and communication systems for the Museum. This position is responsible for acting in a supervisory role in the day-to-day operation and during special events of an assigned shift.
Duties And Responsibilities
Take the lead in an emergency
Coordinate staff training
Responsible for administrative duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Communicate scheduled off days with Shift Supervisors and Managers
Communicate with the Shift Supervisor on any areas of concern regarding staff, volunteers, or visitors when on duty
Contacts Shift Supervisor for advisement on disciplinary issues.
Support staffing levels on other shifts if requested by management
Write reports and disseminate them as required
Conduct post-inspections and complete paperwork associated with assigned shift responsibilities
Responds to requests for assistance with explanation of policies and procedures
Respond to emergencies, such as fires, evacuation implementations, or employee and/or visitor injuries
Administer First Aid CPR/AED/STOP The BLEED in the event of any major medical emergencies
Other duties as assigned by Field Museum Supervisor/Managers
Qualifications
Three or more years of security supervisor experience or equivalent
Have great organizational skills
Strong MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience is required, along with Google applications such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides
Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and work well under pressure
Provide the ability to make appropriate decisions and use good judgment
Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
Must be physically fit to respond quickly to alarms and/or emergencies
Climb ladders
Lift or move equipment such as packages, cables, or parcels.
Must be able to lift or carry 20 or more pounds
May be exposed to all climatic conditions when patrolling outside of the Museum
