Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Working knowledge of solution chemistry to allow preparation of media, stock solutions, and buffers.
Ability to use computers to enter data accurately (Excel).
Reading skills sufficient to understand journal articles and scientific protocols.
Ability to follow instructions and protocols to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively to receive and convey information accurately and in a professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to work as member of team, with respect for all, and impeccable integrity for honesty in data management and analysis.
Preferred
Knowledge of accepted/approved procedures in working with mice, including surgical procedures, breeding, genotyping etc.
Skill in laboratory safety protocols including proper handling of biohazardous substances, including chemicals.
Demonstrated writing skills for generation of basic laboratory protocols and to ensure acceptable record/data keeping.
Skill in use of specialized lab equipment (PCR, microscopes, pH meters, balances, centrifuges etc.).
Knowledge of sterile culture techniques.
