✨ Physicians Regional Heart Center Milestone Yesterday marked our first Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair procedure. This cutting edge technology is available at our Pine Ridge hospital. During mitral valve regurgitation, incomplete closure of the mitral valve leaflets causes some of the blood to flow incorrectly through the heart,(termed regurgitation), thus reducing heart function. The interventional cardiologist delicately secures a clip onto the leaflets, thus ensuring proper blood circulation through the heart. This groin access procedure allows access to this treatment for patients who are at a high risk for open heart surgery. I am thrilled to share that I've been nominated as Employee of the Year at Physicians Regional Hospital! 🏥 It's truly an honor to be recognized for my contributions over the past 3.5 years. When I first joined the hospital as a respiratory therapist, I never imagined the incredible journey that awaited me. Through hard work and dedication, I was recommended for the lung navigation position, and it has been an absolute privilege to step into this role. As a lung navigator, I've had the opportunity to play a vital role in building our lung cancer screening program from the ground up. It's been an enriching experience, filled with challenges and triumphs alike. But above all, it's been immensely rewarding to know that our efforts are making a difference in the lives of our patients. I am truly grateful for the support of my colleagues, mentors, and the entire team at Physicians Regional Hospital. None of this would have been possible without their unwavering encouragement and guidance. As we move forward, I am excited to continue being a part of this program's growth and success.
