Desert Rock and Desert Rock Academy seeks to empower the next generation by teaching the gospel and nurturing meaningful relationships. Our mission is not only to enlighten children about the wonderful deeds of the Lord but also to cultivate a supportive community in partnership with parents of the school and the church body.

About the role:

The Kids Director will lead our children's ministry with enthusiasm and dedication, ensuring that every child knows, loves, and follows Jesus and reaches their world for Christ. This role is central to fulfilling the biblical commandment to educate the coming generation about the Lord's glorious deeds (Psalm 78:4).

Responsibilities -

• Develop and align Kids Ministry objectives with the broader vision of Desert Rock Church and Desert Rock Academy, in collaboration with the Academy Director and Next Gen Pastor.
• Manage the Kids Ministry curriculum for children from nursery to 5th grade alongside the Next Gen Pastor and Kids Administrative Assistant for Sundays.
• Help Manage Curriculum for Desert Rock Academy alongside Desert Rock Academy Director during the week.
• Engage and promote Biblical community within the Academy campus.
• Provide Pastoral care to staff and families in need.
• Assist the School Director in overseeing the spirituality of the campus.
• Plan and oversee Weekly Chapel, teaching and preaching for K-5, as well as Sunday programs and special events.
• Recruit, train, and inspire volunteers, fostering commitment to the Kids Ministry's mission.
• Implement and uphold child safety and discipline policies.
• Maintain the Kids Ministry database with the assistance of the Kids Ministry Administrative Assistant.
• Create a welcoming environment on Sundays, ensuring efficient operations from child check-in to pick-up.
• Collaborate with parents, offering support and engagement through grace and compassion.
• Provide childcare during special church events.
• Direct summer programs such as Water Days and KidsJam!
• Manage the Kids Ministry budget.
• Occasionally teach Sunday classes as needed.
• Supervise the Kids Ministry Administrative Assistant to support the ministry’s goals.
• Integrate Kids Ministry within the overall church life through active partnerships with other church ministries

Candidate requirements -

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in children’s ministry within a church setting of 500+ members.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Strong biblical and theological knowledge; theological training is advantageous.
• Must have or Must obtain Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card for School Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional leadership and relational skills, with a proven ability to motivate others.
• Significant experience in child-related roles, with a sound understanding of child development and educational strategies.
• Demonstrated capability in managing a large team of volunteers.
• Effective time management, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Personal Characteristics
