Position Description

As a Junior Industrial Designer at Sellmark Corporation, you will play a key role in the product development process, from concept generation to final production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will leverage your design expertise to create innovative and visually compelling solutions that meet the needs of our products and exceed industry standards.

Essential Duties And Tasks

  • Generate conceptual design sketches and drawings.
  • Develop and present compelling design proposals to department heads or project stakeholders.
  • Creates detailed designs by hand or using computer-aided design.
  • Fabricate prototypes via 3D printing, hand and power tools.
  • Understanding technical aspects of materials and applies to design appropriately.
  • Researches market opportunities, customer needs, and competition to develop new product specifications, designs, and project proposals.
  • Coordinates across departments and tracks projects using project management systems (Bluemine, ClickUp, Trello, etc.) to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develop 3D models for marketing graphical materials and illustrations.
  • Communicates with factories to send and receive product proposals, technical information, and quotations on new product proposals or products with quality concerns.
  • Participate in market and user-experience research through sales field trips, field hunts, and interactions with customers at trade shows.
  • Performs thorough testing and analysis reports of proof of concepts, design, and production prototypes.
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurance staff in product inspection and failure analysis reports.
  • Assists with technical training of Sales/Marketing/Quality Assurance on new products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design.
  • Model making experience.
  • Highly proficient in SolidWorks modeling software.
  • Knowledge to setup and operate 3D printers and select appropriate materials for such operations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously from concept to late product lifecycle.
  • Willing to study and learn various technologies, markets, and competition.
  • Ability to set up and operate product test criteria.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, and able to work in team environment.
  • Must possess communication skills with the ability to understand technical language and translate for non-technical employees and customers.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience and interest in outdoor/hunting markets is a plus.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS

Main hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.

Schedules will vary depending on business needs, and may entail working nights, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work outside of normal departmental operating hours.
