Job Description
We are seeking a talented Interior Design Manager to join our Design & Construction department! As we continue to grow our brand through major renovations, acquisitions & new builds we are looking for someone passionate about design who can skillfully combine creativity with strategic thinking.
Be a key part of the development team driving exceptional design for Omni Hotels & Resorts - a luxury hotel brand known for its portfolio of hotels and resorts where each property brings the local flavor of the destination to life through design, décor, and carefully curated guest experiences; its award-winning service; and its vibrant culture. Reporting to the Director of Interior Design Management, the Interior Design Manager primarily oversees interior design projects conducted by outside consultants for renovations and new construction as well as completes smaller in-house design projects as necessary. This role requires a leader with a keen eye for detail, strong project management skills, clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams all while maintaining project schedules & budgets.
Responsibilities
Handle day-to-day management of interior design project scope-of-work, budgets and schedules
Act as a project manager guiding the work of outside design consultants, under supervision of the Director of Interior Design Management.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to budgets and timelines.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and procurement teams to ensure cohesive and functional design outcomes.
Manage all consultants (design, architecture, lighting, signage, kitchen etc) through all phases of design & construction.
Responsible for reviewing drawing & spec documents for compliance with scope, budget & Omni design & construction standards.
Prepare RFPs, solicit proposal forms and recommend interior design firms and purchasing companies
Develop FF&E estimated budgets and estimated quantity take-off information to conform to established project budgets
Approve FF&E selections that meet project program, budget and schedule, ensuring they meet quality, aesthetic, and functional requirements .
Manage interior design (quantity and room type) matrices that coordinate with ID drawings, schedules and FF&E specifications
Coordinate with Purchasing in order to ensure that design intent is followed
Work within and manage a budget and recommend alternate design products when item cannot be produced within project timeframe or exceeds approved budget
Coordinate with Property, General Contractor, Purchasing and Vendors during pre-production, production and installation of FF&E specialty items to ensure design integrity is maintained
Organize field visits, ID site supervision and interior finish and FF&E punch lists related to interior design scope as required
Issue meeting minutes and field visit reports related to interior design project scope
Organize and archive project interior design records
Conduct preliminary field surveys for project interior design scope verification
Interact with Construction Project Manager for coordination
Design or manage and coordinate graphics and signage packages
Design or manage and coordinate OSE
Ensures all projects are in compliance with the appropriate Brands Standards and Purchasing programs
Works closely with both corporate and hotel team members as necessary, including Operations, Project Management, Procurement and Accounting departments
Reviews & sign Purchase Orders under $25,000 against specifications to ensure accuracy and budget / schedule compliance
Record, File & Distribute Purchase Orders to Purchasing Agent & Accounting upon final review
Manage expediting reports with Purchasing agent
Qualifications
Eight years of working experience in an architectural or interior design organization with emphasis on hospitality design projects
Bachelor Degree from an accredited college degree in Interior Design or Architecture
Proven experience in managing large-scale projects and leading design teams
Outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to manage outside design firms & consultants
Team player with ability to switch gears easily
Must be able to work within budget requirements
Must have interpersonal, and communication & leadership skills to deal effectively with internal and external business contacts
Ability to make quick, thoughtful decisions that support the success of the project and Omni Hotels at large.
Daily working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of design software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
Experience designing Axminster Carpet
TX State TBAE Registration or NCIDQ Certification
Approximately 20-30% travel
