Overview

Part of the Industrial Design team, you are the creative force behind our products. You design new solutions that are not only visually appealing but also functional, sustainable and aligned with market demands. With a key focus on using consumer insights, your team will create innovative visual concepts for new products and improve existing ones, considering factors like form, function, ergonomics, and user interaction.

Responsibilities

AS America Inc., d/b/a American Standard Brands in Piscataway, New Jersey seeks Industrial Designer to contribute to the LWT product design process, creating innovative concepts, products, experiences, services and human interfaces; work on projects from concept generation through to implementation, designing and implementing compelling product design experiences for consumers under the leadership of lead designers and design directors; prepare proper documentation for Stage Gates; participate in the design of User Experience and User Interface as it related to American Standard and DXV products; create, simulate, and render compelling industrial design and user interaction solutions, applying mastery of 3D and 2D Computer-Aided Design ("CAD") tools to design mechanically practical products that are also aesthetically appealing; conduct market research, learning to identify trends and aligning aesthetic needs, cost objectives, and functional parameters for bath and kitchen design, then modifying and refining designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends; collaborate in a team atmosphere with other subject matter experts from Engineering, Product Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, to achieve new product designs and support LWT portfolio development; execute and manage product concept drawings, physical modeling, and product presentations, determining brand appropriate approaches to LWT concept development; utilize knowledge of industry materials and processes in the manufacture of plumbing products, evaluating feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics; maintain and build external business relationships with vendors through industry trade shows and seminars, keeping up-to-date on the latest competitor products and overall consumer product design trends; develop, test, and implement in-depth product designs that maintain LWT as the industry leader in quality and innovation of bath and kitchen products; determine appropriate approaches to concept development by executing/managing product concept drawings, physical modeling, and product presentations; maintain current awareness of consumer competitor product offerings including product design trends in North America and Global markets; implement brand values and brand signature elements to Product Design and Packaging Design/Experience and create new brand stories.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Design or related field.
  • Must have 4 years of experience in job offered or related position.
  • Must have experience with:
    • marketing research and user experience analysis / user testing by leveraging surveys, interviews and Ethnographic Research methodology;
    • manage and deliver concept and user experience ideation with designers, engineers and product managers utilizing Insights Extraction, Problem Framing and User Interaction Workflow methodology;
    • create, simulate and render compelling industrial design, user interaction solutions and technical drawings utilizing proficient sketching skills, 2D CAD tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustration, InDesign) and 3D CAD tools and platforms (Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot, and/or Maya.);
    • execute and manage product concept drawings, physical modeling, and product presentations;
    • experience in colors/materials/finishes, ergonomic, user testing and manufacturing processes in the plumbing industry.
    • Collaborate in a team atmosphere with other subject matter experts from Engineering, Product Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing and external business vendors;
    • branding design, visual communication design / graphic design, corporate identity system /visual identity system design, exhibition design;
    • ability to implement brand values and brand signature elements to Product/Experience Design.
    • Experience gained concurrently and via internships is acceptable.
  • Position permits remote work throughout the U.S.; and
  • Position requires 2% international and domestic travel.

Hiring Range

(Salary offer to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

Other Compensation (if applicable): This role will be eligible to participate in the annual Short Term Incentive plan.
