HVAC Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair large and complex HVAC systems used in commercial buildings like offices, schools, hospitals, data centers, and manufacturing facilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues involving various equipment like chillers, boilers, air handling units, building automation systems, and rooftop units
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency
  • Conduct comprehensive system inspections and identify potential problems before they arise
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of service calls, repairs, and system performance
  • Provide excellent customer service to building owners and managers, explaining issues, recommending solutions, and ensuring their satisfaction
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and codes specific to the commercial HVAC industry
  • May be responsible for training junior technicians

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an HVAC technician program with a focus on commercial systems
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working on commercial HVAC systems
  • Must be able to work on call rotation on the weekends
  • Must pass HAIR follicle test
  • Must pass BACKGROUND check
  • TWIC (Transportation workers identification certificate.)
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration, electrical systems, and building automation controls
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment and work in various conditions
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • EPA 608 certification and knowledge of relevant building codes are highly preferred

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with specific types of commercial HVAC systems (e.g., chillers, VRF systems, building automation platforms)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience with brazing, welding, and other metalworking skills
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and building automation protocols
