About The Position

Tech Sales is seeking an HVAC Field Start-Up Technician to perform equipment start-up, system commissioning, and troubleshooting across a range of HVAC systems and equipment. This role requires technical proficiency and the ability to manage a variety of HVAC equipment, including variable frequency drives, heating boilers, building automation systems, and other specialized equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment start-up, system commissioning, and troubleshooting for various systems, including:
  • Variable Frequency Drives (Yaskawa, ABB)
  • Heating Boilers (Lochinvar)
  • Niagara-based building automation systems, BACnet and/or LON open protocols, and direct digital control systems (Phoenix Controls)
  • Air Rotation Units (Johnson)
  • Electric Humidifiers
  • Pool Dehumidification Equipment (Dectron)
  • Interpret and work with mechanical and electrical plans for various HVAC systems.
  • Install low voltage control cabling (
  • Prepare submittals and contribute to estimating when required.
  • Any other duties, as required.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    The HVAC Field Start-Up Technician does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications, Attributes, Education, And/or Experience

    • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a sales or customer service environment.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-focused approach.
    • Ability to work safely on ladders, mechanical and electrical equipment, and under diverse job site conditions.

    Computer Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Auto CAD proficiency not essential but desired.
