Job Summary

Barings is currently seeking a research analyst to support the U.S. High Yield Research team in Charlotte, NC.

Primary Responsibilities

• Communicating clear and concise investment opinions through both oral and written presentations to an investment committee comprised of senior members of the U.S. High Yield team
• Author underwriting memos for primary loan and bond issuance as well as secondary trading ideas based on independent study and observation of companies, industries, economic and market trends
• Analyze issuer credit quality and security characteristics through building models and forecasting to support investment recommendations
• Assess relative value by weighing risk-return profile of investment opportunities within credit coverage universe
• Review credit agreements and indentures and articulate structural strengths and weaknesses of the documents
• Flexibility to travel in order to meet with management teams and develop relationships with sell-side analysts, industry experts and other external sources to support research efforts
• Complete quarterly and year-end reporting initiatives around earnings, asset pricing and industry reviews
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the high yield market, preferably investment research
• Bachelors’ degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, economics or a related field: MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred
• Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication / presentation skills
• Analytical skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong PC skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various technology publications
• Proactive learner with strong intellectual curiosity
