Head of Design

Position Title: Head of DesignReports to: VP of MarCom

SCI Summary: SCI supports people with disabilities, behavioral challenges, medically complex needs, transitioning youth, the elderly, and other populations using Maryland Department of Health's Targeted Case Management and Supports Planning work models as well as a concierge level geriatric care management and care partner model.

Position Summary: The Head of Design manages all aspects of Service Coordination Inc.'s (SCI) creative output, bringing designs to life. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this role will inspire and guide creative work that breaks through the clutter, reinforces SCI core values, and engages key audiences through high visibility projects including a website refresh, campaigns, and brand folder. This role will also lead the implementation of new processes and practices to improve the efficiency of the design department for strengthened and clarified brand resonance.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and execute a brand folder containing creative style guides and modernized assets with compelling materials that engage audiences, elevate storytelling, and increase brand awareness.
  • Lead ideation, art direction, and design to enhance brand guidelines and toolkits for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute hands-on to crafting the design of visuals, video concepts, and campaigns including assets for social media, newsletters, blog articles, templates, and presentations. Print design projects include promotional materials, signage, and event swag.
  • Analyze trends in asset or design performance to inform iterations as part of a continual effort to align with goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess departmental needs and proactively develop process improvements to enhance how we work and design products.
  • Direct Team Members and creative partners or vendors to be on-brand, conceptually interesting, and execute work at the highest levels.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience Required

  • 10+ years of experience designing creative projects to elevate brands, within digital and print formats.
  • Be an innovative thinker, flexible, an idea generator that strives for growth, novel approaches, and solutions.
  • Must support person-first ideology and have a passion for driving equity and access for people with disabilities or medically complex needs.
  • Possess a strong ability to recruit, hire, and retain a multi-disciplinary team with a keen eye for culture builders.
  • Demonstrate experience balancing process and productivity, iterative cycles, and learning.
  • Have a passion for accelerating team efficiency by improving processes and workflows within the team and cross-functionally.
  • Must be a hands-on and collaborative project manager, excited to roll up your sleeves.

    • Content Management: Adobe Experience Manager, Drupal
    • Web and Protoyping: Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Figma

Physical Demands: Generally, presents standard office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position >95% of the time. Continually operates a computer, keyboard and mouse, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and mobile Smartphone device. Constantly positions self to comfortably maintain computer equipment. May occasionally be required to move about in an office setting or position office equipment weighing between 10-25 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

IT Roles must be able to position self to maintain computers and equipment, including under desks and in server room(s). Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
