Position: Head of Business Development for US Generics

Job Summary: Our client seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Business Development to lead their US generics sales strategy. This role will focus on expanding our commercial footprint and securing government contracts, including the Veterans Affairs (VA), DOD, and Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the generic pharmaceutical industry and a deep understanding of both commercial and government sales processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to drive sales growth in the US generics market.
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and market trends.
Commercial Sales:
Lead the commercial sales efforts, targeting key accounts, retail chains, and healthcare providers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
Government Sales:
Navigate and secure contracts with government agencies such as the VA, DOD, and through the DAPA program.
Ensure compliance with all government regulations and procurement processes.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor the business development team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide ongoing support and development opportunities.
Market Intelligence:
Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Regulatory, and Operations to ensure alignment and effective execution of business strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the generic pharmaceutical industry.
Proven track record of successfully securing and managing government contracts (VA, DAPA, DOD etc.).
Strong understanding of the US generics market, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to travel as required to meet business objectives.
