This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work. Remote employees are expected to have a dedicated, quiet and distraction-free work space and an internet connection that’s sufficient for completing their job remotely.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing guidance, direction, and support to internal stakeholders of Harley-Davidson, Inc. and its affiliates, particularly legal guidance to Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc. and its subsidiaries (HDFS). This role requires experience in at least one of the areas relevant to HDFS, such as banking, consumer finance law, insurance, and financial services litigation. The position also provides guidance to legal support staff, manages outside counsel, implements tactics, policies, and procedures, and represents the Company with external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works proactively with operations staff and internal/external counsel to identify legal risks throughout the organization, with an emphasis on the consumer lending and loan servicing areas and helps to propose operational changes to mitigate risks and identifies operational issues that implicate consumer lending and servicing laws.
  • Works with operations to implement process improvements intended to mitigate legal risk in a manner that both satisfies legal requirements and the business unit’s objectives.
  • Some interaction with federal and state financial services and banking regulators.
  • Employee administers the delivery of legal services in one or more practice areas.
  • Employee takes leadership role to actively support the Legal Department quality initiatives.
  • Seeks continuous improvement opportunities within the scope of responsibility.
  • Tracks legal trends and makes recommendations for continuous improvement as appropriate for Harley-Davidson.
  • Prepares, negotiates, and interprets contracts.
  • Prepares and implements policies and practices in response to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares and delivers training regarding legal and regulatory requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Specifications

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. A member in good standing with a State bar within the United States and the ability to become a member of the State Bar in other relevant jurisdictions, as required.

Experience Requirements

Required

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience law firm and/or corporate legal department.
  • A high level of integrity, excellent judgment and analytical skills, and the ability to identify all relevant issues.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills (including good listening skills) and the ability to achieve positive outcomes through influence.
  • The ability to lead and work well in a team environment.
  • Organization, planning, and research skills.
  • An ability to provide sound legal advice that is responsive to the business needs of Harley-Davidson, Inc. and its subsidiaries, as well as responds to clients’ needs consistent with corporate strategies and objectives.
  • An appreciation and awareness of the legal/business interface.
  • An ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
