Challenging Molecular Biology Laboratory Role

  • Summary**:

This role involves coordinating and conducting a range of molecular biological tests on various specimens, interpreting results, and reporting findings. The responsibilities also include developing and validating new molecular tests, troubleshooting existing tests, with a focus on genomic sequencing and maintenance of sequencing instrumentation.

  • Key Responsibilities**:
  • Nucleic acid extraction from specimens using manual and automated methods
  • Performing molecular techniques such as PCR, MALDI-TOF, and NGS
  • Participating in the development and validation of new testing methods
  • Providing technical oversight and ensuring accuracy in test performance and result reporting
  • Conducting quality control checks and maintaining records of all activities
  • Evaluating, interpreting, and documenting laboratory results
  • Collaborating in the evaluation of new laboratory products
  • Requirements**:
  • Strong knowledge in molecular biology and related sub-specialties
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and regulations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex scientific data
  • Effective communication skills for technical information
  • Proficiency in preparing laboratory reports
  • Certification as a technologist under CLIA

Collaboration with supervisors, Laboratory Safety Officers, and external entities is essential for work procedures and information dissemination. Clear communication and guidance on laboratory procedures are shared when needed.

  • Working Conditions**:
