Sunrise Mexican Foods opened its doors in 1998 as a tortilla manufacturer, but quickly grew the business by 2000, adding tamales, enchiladas, flautas, and taquitos to the product line, as well as many additional options soon after.
Over the past 20+ years, we have provided high quality “hand rolled,” fresh, natural ingredient, chef-driven trending products for multi-chain regional and national restaurants, military, schools, retail, and street businesses.
As a Plant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all the operations of the plant, including managing employees, meeting projections, and ensuring quality. Additionally, the Plant Manager manages plant projects and is responsible for troubleshooting problems. Having a business-minded problem-solving mentality with time management skills will ensure needs are handled in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee Production Operations: Lead and manage all aspects of the food manufacturing process, including production planning, scheduling, and execution. Ensure efficient utilization of resources to meet production targets, while maintaining high quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce strict quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process. Monitor production operations to identify and resolve any quality issues promptly. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Team Leadership: Build and manage a skilled and motivated team of production staff. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Establish and enforce safety procedures, including training programs, to prevent accidents and injuries. Stay updated on relevant food safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and increased operational efficiency. Implement strategies to optimize production processes, minimize waste, and enhance product quality. Regularly analyze key performance indicators and develop action plans to achieve targets.
- Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure a smooth flow of raw materials, ingredients, and finished goods. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to avoid stockouts or excessive inventory.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage the plant's budget, ensuring effective utilization of resources while controlling costs. Analyze financial data, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality and safety.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships and effective communication with other departments, such as research and development, sales, and marketing, to align production with business objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new products or make process modifications.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a managerial role within the food manufacturing industry, with a strong understanding of food production processes and quality control.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA), HACCP principles, and GMP guidelines.
- Must have HACCP certification.
- SQF knowledge or proven experience with food safety auditing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across various departments and levels of the organization.
- Sound financial acumen and experience in budget management. Must be proficient in Excel.
- Proficiency in using manufacturing software and systems for production planning, inventory management, and reporting.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
